History

In early 2001, San Diego Transit received ten New Flyer C40LF buses for contractor service; the order was supposed to include 12 units (2201-2212) but it was changed to 10 as the first two units from that series (VINs YU021482-483) were renumbered to 2513-2514. However, they featured the same livery as MTS' earlier 2500 series and both batches originally had Cummins C8.3G engines which were likely replaced sometime early or midway through their service lives.

This series was most likely replaced by the 2014-2015 Gillig Low Floor CNG buses.
