San Mateo County Transit District 700-709

SamTrans 700-709 were 1981 model Crown Ikarus 286 buses built in 1980, but completed in 1981. They were used as reserve fleet starting in 1985. They may have only been used as spare buses after 1990. They were renumbered as the 790 series in documentation in 1993.

Details

  • Most units were bought by Zacher's Auto Salvage in Harbor City, CA. 1 unit was spotted at an unknown time.[1]
  • About 3 to 5 units (including 709) were bought by Green Tortoise Adventure Travel.[2]
  • 2 units (likely 700 & 702) later drove to the Green Tortoise Adventure Travel Lowell, OR yard for re-sale. 1 unit was used for the Oregon County Fair shuttle circa 1999.
