The Siemens Transportation Systems SD160 is a bi-directional, six axle, single articulated, high floor vehicle designed for either high or low platform operation. The carshell is constructed of low alloy high tensile (LAHT) steel. Passenger doors are of the sliding plug style.

The exterior design was updated in 2008 with Edmonton's order.
