409 Anacortes is a bus route operated by Skagit Transit in Skagit County, Washington State.

Route Details

This circular bus route runs through central Anacortes. Service runs every 30 minutes, from 7:25 AM to 4:20 PM on weekdays and from 8:25 AM to 4:25 PM on Saturdays. This route does not run on Sundays[1].

Trips depart 10th Street and Q Avenue north on Q Avenue, west on 6th Street, south on H Avenue, east on 8th Street, south on M Avenue, east on 12th Street, south on Commercial Avenue, west on 32nd Street and north on M Avenue to Island Hospital. The route then continues north on M Avenue, west on 22nd Street, south on G Avenue, east on 24th Street, north on H Avenue, east on 22nd Street, north on M Avenue, east on 12th Street, north on Commercial Avenue and east on 10th Street to Q Avenue.

The first trip of the day starts at Chuckanut Park & Ride in Burlington, and the last trip of the day ends in Chuckanut Park & Ride in Burlington. These trips follow the regular routing, and then offer express service to the Park & Ride. Trips towards Anacortes depart Chuckanut Park & Ride east on Hansen Place, north on N Burlington Blvd, west on SR 20, north on R Avenue and north on Q Avenue to 10th Street. Trips towards Chuckanut depart 10th Street and Q Avenue south on Q Avenue, south on R Avenue, east on SR 20, south on N Burlington Blvd and west on Hansen Place to Chuckanut Park & Ride. These Chuckanut trips only serve local stops along R and Q avenues, and run non-stop between southern Anacortes and the Park & Ride.

  • May 4, 2009 - Service launched as 49 Anacortes Bus Plus, operating service every 30-60 minutes weekdays and Saturdays, along a fixed route with supplemental on-demand service available
  • September 3, 2013 - Express trips to / from Chuckanut Park & Ride at the start and end of the day added
  • January 4, 2016 - Route renumbered to 409 Anacortes and flex service removed in favor of all-day fixed-route service
