Sound Transit 9070-9089 were 2001 Gillig Phantom 40' (C21D102N4) buses. Each bus in the series had a cost of around $299,789 2001 USD. They were operated by King County Metro at South and East Base throughout the majority of their service lives. They retired circa 2014, but most units were retained until 2020, as they were expected to returned to service when routes 540 & 541 transferred to Pierce Transit for operation.
