South Metro Area Regional Transit is the transit system serving the city of Wilsonville and provides regional services to Salem, SW Portland, and Canby in Oregon.

History

  • In 1989, the City of Wilsonville and TriMet subcontracted a fixed-route bus service (name unknown) in the Wilsonville area to Buck Ambulance Service. The service was proven to be inadequate by 1990.[1][2]
  • In 1991, the City of Wilsonville created a dial-a-ride service known as Wilsonville Area Rapid Transit.[1][2]
  • In 1993-1994, WART added fixed-route service and its name was officially changed to South Metro Area Rapid Transit.[1][2]
  • In 2007, the bus system's name was officially changed to South Metro Area Regional Transit.[3]
