The Réseau de transport collectif régional de la MRC de L'Assomption (RTCR) was the public transit provider in the Regional County Municipality of L'Assomption in Québec. The RTCR served the cities of L'Assomption, L'Épiphanie, Charlemagne, Repentigny, and the municipality of Saint-Sulpice. The service had been operated under contract by Keolis Canada. It was replaced in 2017 by exo L'Assomption.
History
After the creation of the intermunicipal transit councils (CITs) in 1983, the STCUM remained the connecting transit service between Repentigny and Montreal. The new CIT Le Portage provided a connection to the city of L'Assomption. Unsatisfied with transit expansion in Repentigny, including a lack of local service, the Organisme municipal et intermunicipal de transport (OMIT) de Repentigny was formed by the city in 1989.[1]
The Lanaudière Region formed their own planing agency, the Conseil régional de transport (CRT) de Lanaudière, to better coordinate transit in their region. Service expanded into Charlemagne and further into Repentigny. On September 24, 2002, The MRC of L'Assomption assumes control of transit. In 2005, the current system name debuted.[1]
Groupe Gaudreault subsidiary, Lanau Bus was awarded the contract to operate OMIT de Repentigny in 1990. In September 2009, Groupe Orléans, now part of Keolis Canada, acquired some assets of Group Gaudreault which included Lanau Bus's urban transportation division. This was integrated into Groupe Orléans's Orleans Urbain subsidiary.[2]
New legislation reorganizing public transit in the greater Montréal area came into effect on June 1, 2017, which replaced AMT with RTM. As part of the reorganization, RTCR was replaced by exo L'Assomption.
