Stagecoach Highlands was a bus operator serving Northern Scotland, including the Scottish Highlands, Inverness, and the Orkney Islands. It was a division of Stagecoach Group.
History
Stagecoach Group entered the Northern Scotland market in 1989 through its acquisition of Inverness Traction. Through 1991 it engaged in a "bus war" with dominant operator Highland Scottish, which led to Stagecoach purchasing Highland Scottish's operations in Inverness and Tain.
The remainder of Highland Scottish's operations were split in 1995, which were later reunited under Rapsons Group. Stagecoach purchased Rapsons Group in 2008, including its subsidiaries Highland Country Buses and Orkney Coaches. The Inverness & Easter Ross operations of Stagecoach Bluebird were transferred to Stagecoach Highlands in April 2011.
Following a performance review of its services in northern Scotland, Stagecoach merged most of the Highlands operation into the Bluebird license; the combined division became known as Stagecoach North Scotland.
