Route Details

This route mainly serves McCowan Road between Triton Road and Major Mackenzie Drive. There is one southern terminal, which is Kennedy Station. Northern terminals include Major Mackenzie Drive for 129A and Steeles Avenue East for 129B. An extra fare is required for the 129A branch north of Steeles Avenue East since the bus enters York Region.

History
- October 14, 2001 - At the request of York Region Transit, branch 129A to 16th Avenue is extended north to Major Mackenzie Drive with buses looping via Major Mackenzie Drive, Ridgecrest Road, Castlemore Avenue and The Bridle Walk. Service is removed from Cairns Drive and Raymerville Drive.
- May 14, 2002 - Service timing on branch 129A is adjusted to operate early morning Saturdays and daytime/early evening Sundays and holidays.
- June 22, 2014 - Due to a system-wide reorganization of route branch designations, branch 129 to Steeles is changed to 129B.
- May 10, 2015 - Route is added to the Ten Minute Network. With service increases during the early evening and late evening periods on weekends, service between Scarborough Centre Station and Steeles Avenue East will operate at intervals of ten minutes or better whenever the subway is open.
- March 28, 2021 - This route was transferred to the brand new McNicoll Division.
- November 19, 2023 - Route is extended further south to serve as an express bus from Scarborough Centre Station to Kennedy Station as part of the Line 3 Bus Replacement Plan.
Overnight Service
Overnight service is provided by 302 Kingston Rd-McCowan on McCowan Road between Triton Road and Steeles Avenue East. The entire portion of the express service routing is provided by 343 Kennedy between Kennedy Station and Ellesmere Road, and by 395 York Mills on Ellesmere Road between Kennedy Road and Brimley Road. The rest of the route does not have overnight service, however, this route operates until 1:00 AM every day.
