Route Details

This route connects Kipling Station, the industries along Attwell Drive, Humber College North Campus, and Steeles Avenue West. It services Highway 27 south of Steeles Avenue West, Humber College Boulevard west of Highway 27, and Attwell Drive between Dixon Road and Belfield Road. There is one southern terminal, which is Kipling Station. Northern terminals include Humber College for 927A and 927C, and Steeles Avenue West for 927B and 927D. Branch 927A only operates 6 trips during the midday on weekdays between September and April. Branches 927C and 927D only operate during rush hours on weekdays.
Branch 927C buses operate via Attwell Drive in both directions with northbound buses serving local stops between Dixon Road and Belfield Road, and southbound buses serving local stops between Belfield Road and Farnboro Road. Branch 927D buses loop clockwise via Royalcrest Road and Highway 27 before 2pm and counterclockwise after 2pm.

History
- June 24, 1991 - Route introduced as 191 Highway 27 Express.
- January 5, 2001 - Route renamed to 191 Highway 27 Rocket. New service is added during the midday and early evening on weekdays, and during the daytime on Saturdays. Stops on Attwell Drive and Royalcrest Road continue to only be served during the rush hours.
- September 7, 2004 - Daytime Sunday and Holiday service is added.
- January 2, 2005 - Route made accessible with lift-equipped buses.
- October 17, 2005 - Service is adjusted to always operate via Humber College Boulevard west of Highway 27. Service will no longer operate on John Garland Boulevard or Humber College Boulevard east of Highway 27.
- August 31, 2008 - Bike rack service is added.
- November 23, 2008 - New late evening service on weekdays and evening service on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays are added. Service will operate whenever the subway is open.
- May 10, 2015 - Route is added to the Ten Minute Network. All service between Kipling Station and Steeles Avenue West will operate at intervals of ten minutes or better whenever the subway is open.
- September 6, 2015 - The route is changed to now serve the off-street bus terminal at Humber College. Buses will no longer stop at the on-street stops along Humber College Boulevard.
- March 28, 2016 - The northern terminus of branch 191A is changed to the Humber College bus terminal. Buses on this branch will no longer loop via Carrier Drive and Woodbine Downs Boulevard after serving Humber College.
- September 6, 2016 - Rush hour service reorganized into two branches to improve travel time between Kipling Station and Humber College. Peak-period branch 191C via Attwell will only operate south of Humber College and provide service along Attwell Drive in both directions. New peak-period branch 191D is introduced which bypasses Attwell Drive to Humber College and continue north to Steeles Avenue West looping via Royalcrest Road.
- September 2, 2018 - With the implementation of the TTC's express network, this route is renumbered and renamed 927 Highway 27 Express.
- November 24, 2019 - Service operating southbound from Steeles via Humber College and Attwell designated branch 927F for clarification. Service on branch 927F routing exists before this date.
- March 28, 2021 - This route was transferred to Mount Dennis upon the opening of the brand new McNicoll Division.
- September 5, 2021 - This route was transferred to Arrow Rd Division.
- January 2025 - Articulated buses begin operating on certain weekday trips, on an informal basis.
- March 30, 2025 - All runs are now assigned articulated buses, seven days a week, following the removal of articulated buses from route 939.
- May 11, 2025 - Scheduled service reverts to using standard 40' buses due to constraints on the articulated bus fleet. Articulated buses may continue to be assigned if available.
Overnight Service
Overnight service is not provided, however, the route operates until 1:00 AM every day.
Vehicles
Buses that can appear on 927 Highway 27 Express include the Nova Bus LFS Artic , Nova Bus LFS , Nova Bus LFS HEV , New Flyer XE40 and rarely, Orion VII NG HEV rarely see service, due to these units having difficulty keeping their batteries charged when travelling at highway speeds for extended distances.
