Urbis Transport urbain Les Moulins (or simply Urbis) provided public transportation in the Regional County Municipality of Les Moulins in Québec, including the cities of Mascouche and Terrebonne. It was operated under contract by Orléans Urbain, a subsidiary of Keolis Canada. It was replaced in 2017 by exo Terrebonne-Mascouche.
History
The transit system was formed in 1986 as the Conseil intermunicipal de transport des Moulins with the creation of the intermunicipal transit council. On February 21, 2003 the regional county municipality assumed responsibility of transit and the service became known as simply MRC Les Moulins.[2] The new Urbis identity was unveiled along with improved service on November 15, 2011.[3]
Groupe Gaudreault acquired the contract to operate the system in 2002 from Autobus Terremont. It was renewed in 2007 and operated through Groupe Gaudreault's subsidiary Lanau Bus.[4] Groupe Orléans, now Keolis Canada, acquired some of the assets of Group Gaudreault, which included Lanau Bus's urban transportation division in September 2009. This was integrated into Groupe Orléans' Orleans Urbain subsidiary.
New legislation reorganizing public transit in the greater Montréal area came into effect on June 1, 2017, which replaced AMT with RTM. As part of the reorganization, Urbis was replaced by exo Terrebonne-Mascouche.
