Editing notes

Hi there. Just to let you know, we have a set of standards for photographs which have a set of standards for both the quality of the photograph and the naming of the files. Please take a look at these guidelines before continuing to upload further photos.

Also, we like to keep things on the Wiki rather standardized. Please try to follow the existing standards on the Wiki including table formatting and where you put the photos on the page.

One more thing: It's much better if you try to do everything in one edit and use the Preview button to double-check your work, instead of doing a dozen edits to the same page in a short time span. Not only does it make the Recent Changes page look a lot neater, it also cuts down on server stress since you're only saving once instead of 12 times.

Thanks, and if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask. --ArticulatedTalk 18:17, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

Photos

You need to take time to read the naming conventions and photo quality sections before uploading blurry shots with incorrect file names. There is a discussion going on right now on the board.

The page was reverted because you had changed it to a non standard format, as had already been pointed out to you by Articulated. However you came in and without any consideration to the set standards went ahead and made changes. If you took the time to read the relevant sections, both on the wiki and on the board, you will see what I, and others, are talking about. Others had already set the pages up and posted images, which you came along and replaced, which I know is a big no-no on the wiki. You mentioned in your request to be a wiki editor that "As I send this request to you'll, I would love to join the group and you will not regret it at all" yet I know there are those who do regret it already. If you want to suggest changes then feel free to make a post in the relevant section so it can be discussed bgut don't just go to a page and change it to suit your own needs as opposed to earlier editors. By editing this Wiki you agreed that your work "may be edited, altered, or removed by other contributors. If you do not want your writing to be edited mercilessly, then do not submit it here."
In addition to what D40LF has said already, I highly suggest that you look over the Naming Conventions, both in regards to photographs and pages in general. Here we have a certain standard way of doing things, and by keeping one consistent look throughout the pages it helps everyone find information easier. "Changing the vibe" as you called it is not appreciated, especially when it is not carried out properly. After your editing, I'm sorry to say (but I'm being completely honest), the MTA Maryland page was a complete disaster with very poor photos, two different styles of tables, random font style changes, and generally useless information. Take your time to learn the coding properly and seriously take the suggestions I put on this page earlier. --ArticulatedTalk 02:48, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

You obviously haven't taken any time to read the above posts or links contained there in which outline the photographic standards and naming conventions for photos that are uploaded to this wiki. This is the photo in question. [[1]]. Please take the time to read this links so that in the future you photos meet the required and acceptable standards. D40LF 15:02, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

Photo naming

Good morning MJofLakeland,

Thanks for taking the time to upload your photos to the CPTDB Wiki. They look good. However, I highly suggest you re-read the naming conventions page, as I had to spend some time this morning renaming a large number of your photos to the wiki standard title format. (https://cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php?title=Special:Contributions/Detroit_Diesel_6V92TA&offset=&limit=500&target=Detroit+Diesel+6V92TA)

Here are some simple instructions of how photos should be named when being uploaded to the wiki. https://cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php/CPTDB_Wiki:Photographs#Photo_Name

Thank you,

So, what should I give the names of my photos?... I'm not sure tagging my name onto a photo is very useful if it's free to the public. As far as watermarks, I never do that for any of my photos uploaded as they are in free domain for anyone to use. I'm not sure photos with a bunch of info is considered a good photo either.

Hi MJofLakeland, in response to your reply, I was not talking putting your name in the photo name or watermarking the photos. I was referring to the name of the files you give the photos when uploading them to the wiki. I requested that you read the instructions here (https://cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php/CPTDB_Wiki:Photographs#Photo_Name) to understand what I was referring to, but I will make it more clear for you:

"Photographs are to be named with the transit agency and the fleet number in the title. There should also be a suffix added after the fleet number to allow for more than one photo of the same vehicle to be uploaded.

For example: Mississauga Transit 0109-a.jpg DO NOT UPLOAD A NEW IMAGE AND REPLACE AN ALREADY USED SUFFIX - If there is already a Mississauga Transit 0109-a.jpg picture uploaded, use Mississauga Transit 0109-b.jpg, etc."

Here's 2 examples of photo files that you uploaded with a non-stanard title naming format: https://cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php/File:MTA_Maryland_NOVABus_LFS-A_20031.jpg & https://cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php/File:MTA_Maryland_XD40_19010.jpg

Here's an example of one of your photos with the correct title naming format (after a moderator had fixed it): https://cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php/File:Regional_Transportation_Agency_of_Central_Maryland_8903-a.jpg You can see your original file name here, which is what I was referring to as being incorrect: https://cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php?title=File:Regional_Transportation_Agency_of_Central_Maryland_8903-a.jpg&action=history

This is a list of all of your files, and now you should be able to see which files are named correctly and incorrectly: https://cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php/Special:ListFiles/MJofLakeland

Please take note for the future and let me know if you have more questions.

Thanks
