The Van Hool TDX25E Astromega is a 44-foot battery-electric motorcoach available in Canada and the United States. Van Hool announced the TDX25E on November 16, 2021. Like the CX45E, it uses Proterra's battery technology and traction motor from Siemens. The TDX25E has a range of up to 500 kilometres.[1] Like all Van Hool products, it is marketed in North America by ABC Bus.
To test the viability of a electric highway coach, ABC Bus staged two cross-country runs, the first operated by Empire Coach on February 16-21, 2022. The next year, ABC Bus invited James Wang of Peoria Charter Coach to drive the coach cross country and document the trip on his YouTube page.[2]
