The Van Hool TX40 was a 40-foot luxury touring coach available in Canada and the United States. It was launched in November 2013 along with the Van Hool TX45.[1] The TX40 is an evolution of the Van Hool T2140.

The most noticeable change from the T2140 is the appearance. The TX40 shared the same look as Van Hool's other TX coaches with distinctive angular headlight and tail light clusters. In addition, it featured lights in the bumper that reacted to the steering and speed of the coach to aim them at the road. The TX40 differed from the European TX coaches with more pronounced bumpers and different baggage and entrance doors.

The TX40 was four inches taller than the T2140. The added height is in the coach's luggage bays and engine compartment. Also, the luggage bay doors' seal was mounted to the door instead of the body. The electrical box was relocated from the bulkhead wall of the luggage bay to its roof, and the battery compartment was relocated ahead of the curb-side drive axle. [2]

Along with its 45-foot counterpart, the TX40 was discontinued after the 2022 model year as ABC Bus concentrated its marketing efforts on the more popular CX Series coaches.
