The Volvo B8RLE is a low floor bus chassis. It is the Euro 6 replacement for the B7RLE and B9RLE. Like these chassis, the B8RLE has a low floor section with steps just before the rear wheels. A 7.7-litre engine is mounted at the centre of the rear like its sister chassis the B8R. The B8RLE is also available in both a 4x2 and 6x2 axle configuration. The wheelbase was increased over its predecessors to yield more passenger space. The power steering is now an electrically driven hydraulic system instead of the previous fully hydraulic system.

In 2017, Volvo began offering the B8RLE globally. This replaced the B7RLE in markets outside of Europe. Buses built for customers outside of Europe are available with a Euro 3 or Euro 5 7.7 litre engine.

Volvo offers a complete bus, the 8900, on the B8RLE chassis. In the United Kingdom, the B8RLE is available with the MCV Bus and Coach Evolution and Wrightbus Eclipse 3 bodies. In Australia Volgren offers their Optimus bus range on the B8RLE.
