The Wright StreetLite is a low floor midibus available in two configurations: Wheel Forward (WF) with the front door behind the front axle and Door Forward (DF) with the front door before the front axle. The Wheel Forward variant is available in lengths of 8.8 or 9.5 metres, and the Door Forward variant is available in lengths of 10.2, 10.8 or 11.5 metres.

The StreetLite was officially launched with the wheel forward variant on June 30, 2010 in Ballymena, Northern Ireland. The door forward variant was launched the following year in lengths of 10.2 and 10.8 metres. The 11.5 metre length, known as the StreetLite Max, was launched in 2012.

The front fascia of the bus has characteristics that project the Wright product line aesthetic. To ease in maintenance, the StreetLite uses a single-piece front bumper, and the headlights are placed outside of the front impact zone. A common rear module houses the powertrain, cooling system, air filter, and exhaust that can be easily removed for maintenance.[1]

In addition to a traditional diesel drivetrain, the StreetLite is available with a fully electric drive. Known as the StreetLite EV, it was introduced at the 2012 Euro Bus Expo and features plug-in charging. Induction power transfer is another option. Eight buses operating in Milton Keynes as of January 2014 are the first to use this method.

At Busworld 2013 in Kortrijk, Belgium, VDL Bus & Coach introduced the Citea MLE (Midi Low Entry)—a rebadged Wright StreetLite for sale in Europe. The front fascia has been restyled to tie into the Citea family aesthetic. The Wheel Forward version was available for order in the first quarter of 2014, and the Door Forward version was available towards the end of the year.[2]
