York Region Transit 526-530
York Region Transit 526-530 were Orion 05.501 buses built in 1989 and acquired by YRT in 2001. These buses were originally from Vaughan Transit and retain their original numbers.
These were the last Orion Vs in the YRT fleet to have a rollsign. 529 had Luminator Mega:MAX destination sign, but was replaced by a Luminator Horizon sign in February 2009. The heaters on these buses frequently malfunctioned, often resulting in an unpleasant ride during winter months.
They were most likely to be found at Finch Station on a cover shift during PM rush. They could also be found on routes 3 Thornhill, 4 Major Mackenzie, 10 Woodbridge, 20 Jane, 27 Highway 27, and 28 Zenway. All units were regularly found on the joint BT-YRT 77 Highway 7 for years after the YRT amalgamation.
All units were retired upon delivery of the 901-945 series.
