On-Request 'North' was an on-request service operated by York Region Transit in East Gwillimbury and Georgina, Ontario, Canada.

Route Details

This service provided by-request pick-up and drop-off in the entirety of Georgina, and in East Gwillimbury north of Queensville Sideroad and Doane Road.

This service area served all addresses within the indicated area, including Georgina Ice Palace, Keswick High School, Keswick Library, Multi-use Recreation Complex, Our Lady Queen of the Lake Catholic High School, Pefferlaw Community Hall, Pefferlaw Library, Peter Gzowski Sutton Library, Sutton District High School, The ROC, Virginia Beach Ferry Docks, and Woodbine Avenue and Highway 404 Park & Ride.

Service was provided on weekdays from 7 AM to 11 PM, and on weekends from 8 AM to 8 PM.

History

January 3, 2016 - New Dial-a-Ride North is introduced as a pilot program to improve transportation options for residents in East Gwillimbury and Georgina. No conventional buses operate. YRT marked passenger vehicles provide address-to-address pick up and drop-off on weekdays from 8AM to 11AM and 4PM to 8PM.

April 4, 2016 - Service area is expanded to include the entirety of the Towns of East Gwillimbury and Georgina.

June 26, 2016 - Dial-A-Ride service area is extended to include the area between Bales Drive and Davis Drive & Highway 404 Park & Ride.

January 17, 2017 - Service hours extended to operate on weekdays from 8AM to 11AM and 3:30PM to 8PM.

July 2, 2017 - On weekdays, the service hours are extended to operate from 7:30AM to 10:45PM as a replacement for weekday route 50A service between Sutton and Pefferlaw.

September 5, 2017 - The diversion to the Georgina Learning Centre was discontinued.

2018-2019 - The service area along Highway 48 between Sutton and Pefferlaw will now be served by new weekday service on Dial-a-Ride Sutton-Pefferlaw.

November 3, 2019 - As part of the transition to On-Request services, the Dial-a-Ride program was renamed to On-Request North.

June 30, 2024 - Service merges with On-Request Keswick and On-Request Sutton-Pefferlaw to provide continuous service in northern East Gwillimbury and Georgina. As a result, service to Holland Landing and Mount Albert is discontinued and is now solely served by On-Request Holland Landing-Mount Albert, while service to Sutton and Pefferlaw is reintroduced. Additionally, service is modified to allow address-to-address travel, no longer requiring passengers to travel to the closest stop on route 50. Service on weekends between 8 AM and 8 PM is also introduced to compensate for the discontinuation of On-Request Sutton-Pefferlaw.
