Route Details
Route 33 mainly served Bayview Avenue and Leslie Street, as well as a number of streets in eastern Aurora and Newmarket.
This route served the eastern Aurora and Newmarket communities. It also served Aurora GO Station and Newmarket GO Station.

History
Newmarket Transit originally operated routes 11 and 77, which were combined into a single route (77/11).
- January 2001 - York Region Transit inherited the service. This route operated as a large circle, starting at Stone Road and Bayview Avenue, heading north on Bayview Avenue (diverting into Aurora Centre via Pederson Drive, Earl Stewart Drive and St. John's Sideroad), diverts via Water Street, Main Street South, and Timothy Street, then operates north on Prospect Street and Lundy's Lane, east on Leslie Valley Drive, south on Leslie Street (through 404 Town Centre), west on Stonehaven Avenue and south on Bayview Avenue back to Stone Road. Some rush hour trips diverted west on Wellington Street to Aurora GO Station. 3 loops existed: along Srigley Street, Alexander Road and Queen Street; Davis Drive, Carlson Drive, Gorham Drive, and Crowder Boulevard; and along Lockwood Circuit. These loops had rush-hour service to serve high school students, and also had Dial-a-Bus service during the midday period from 9am to 2:30pm.
- September 4, 2001 - Route is renumbered from 11/77 to 33. Two additional trips are added to connect to new GO train service at Aurora GO Station.
- August 31, 2003 - Routing to service Aurora GO Station is adjusted to accommodate the Berkshire subdivision near St. John's Sideroad and Bayview Avenue.
- September 5, 2004 - Service was restructured and route 33 was replaced by a number of new routes:
- Service along Bayview from Stone to Davis was replaced by the new route 54.
- Service along Leslie between Davis and Stonehaven, as well as on Stonehaven was replaced by a new route 57 branch.
- Service north of Davis was mostly replaced by the new route 55B.
- Service to Aurora GO Station from Stone Road was incorporated into the routing of the new route 221.
- The special loops never regained any transit service, except for a portion of Queen Street (which served as part of the on-street loop for route 54).
In 2006, the number 33 was reused for a new route along Wellington. A through service on Leslie Street was originally implemented, as route 58 originally operated as far south as Stonehaven Avenue (the full length of route 33's service on Leslie Street), however it was cut back to the 404 Town Centre. There were plans to re-extend the route to Wellington Street, though those plans have since been shelved.
