18 Lakeshore West is a route operated by GO Transit. It serves as the Train-Bus replacement for the Lakeshore West GO Train during early mornings and overnights and connected with train services to Toronto Union Station at Aldershot GO Station during the day. This is a daily service. It is part of the Lakeshore West series of GO Transit routes.
History
Route 18 was one of the first GO Transit bus routes, starting in September 1970. The main branch acts as an off peak train connector from Hamilton to Aldershot GO. Route 18A was a branch operating four trips during rush hour periods to Burlington GO Station, and was eliminated with the extension of all trains to Aldershot. Route 18B operates one inbound trip on Sunday mornings from Hamilton to Union. Route 18C operates one late night outbound trip from Sunday to Thursday. Route 18D operates a late night trip ending at Clarkson GO. Route 18E is an extension of select trips in the afternoon to West Harbour GO Station. Route 18F operates one outbound trip to Hamilton on Friday and Saturday nights. Route 18G runs one trip early in the morning during the week from Hamilton to Union. Route 18H starts its AM trip at Oakville GO Station.
The first eastbound trip, an 18G, leaves Hamilton GO Centre at 4:15xm. The last westbound 18C/F enters Hamilton GO Centre at 2:55xm (18C) and 2:40xm (18F).
The new Enviro500 "Super Lo" was introduced to route 18 in December 2016. with its low height it is able to fit into Hamilton GO Centre.
