WHEELS/LAVTA was established in 1985 and began service in 1986 in Dublin & Pleasanton upon the discontinuation of the [[AC Transit]] service in the Tri-Valley area. Livermore's transit service was formerly ran by '''Rideo''', which was operated by Laidlaw Transit starting around the 1970's. The service was taken over by WHEELS/LAVTA in June 1987.
