Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County

The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, also known as Houston METRO or simply METRO, is the transit provider for Houston, Texas. METRO provides service to the City of Houston; unincorporated Harris County; and 14 smaller cities ("multi-cities") within Harris County, including Bellaire, Bunker Hill Village, El Lago, Hedwig Village, Hilshire Village, Humble, Hunters Creek Village, Katy, Missouri City, Piney Point Village, Southside Place, Spring Valley Village, Taylor Lake Village, and West University Place.

METRO has a current active fleet of 1,405 ACTIVE buses (as of 1/31/2018), which includes 7 Gillig BRT Plus CNG buses, 711 40' conventional transit buses (diesel, hybrid, and CNG models), 399 45' MCI commuter buses (diesel and hybrid models), 88 60' articulated buses (diesel), and 162 paratransit (METROLift) vehicles.
