They were originally delivered with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) that featured 2 tailpipes. These DPF's were removed early on in their service lives and were replaced with a single tailpipe. They were originally powered by [[Detroit Diesel]] [[Detroit Diesel Series 92|6V92TA]] engines with [[Allison]] [[Allison HT Series|HTB-748]] transmissions. 758-763 were originally used for the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) [[Bay Area Rapid Transit District|BART]] Shuttle service. SamTrans 700-763 were 1993 Gillig Phantom 35' (35102TB6V92T) buses. They were originally delivered with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) that featured 2 tailpipes. These DPF's were removed early on in their service lives and were replaced with a single tailpipe. They were originally powered by Detroit Diesel 6V92TA engines with Allison HTB-748 transmissions. 758-763 were originally used for the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) BART Shuttle service. They were repainted, had their luggage racks removed, and returned to SamTrans North Base once BART started its service to SFO circa 2003.

- 737, 738, 743, 751, 752, 753, 754, 746, 706, 734, 713, 727, 730 were sold to UC Santa Cruz in 2010 and became 920, 921, 923-929 & 934-937.
- Many units were bought by Transit Sales International; 9 known units remain.
- 723, 701, 721 & 708 were sold to UC Santa Cruz circa 2016 and became 919, 933, 938 & 939.
