Talk:Rochester-Genesee Regional Transportation Authority

What was the real story with the 901-919 series hybrids? I find the 'cost of operation' rationale questionable because they never really ran these buses long enough. Did RGRTA lose funding for these buses because they defied the FTA's regulations regarding school trippers in 2006-07? There is mention in several FTA documents from 2007 that the authority owed the feds money because they illegally ran the school service. RailBus63 13:33, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

Yes, that was the actual reason why they did not operate long enough. Kaufmancab51 21:27, 3 September 2009

The whole matter of why these buses weren't used were a factor of a lot of things. I know this is a double post by the same person but 2 people use this account. I am the prime holder. Due to Rochester's low-lying bridges, the buses would have to detour many of their routes. The cost to run a single hybrid would be the cost equivalent to 3 diesel buses, which RGRTA would not plan to spend money on. The lawsuit had nothing to do with this order. Regardless of the fact that FTA funding was cut, RGRTA didn't want to shell out the money anyways, which then resulted in 1151-1155 running another year before retirement.

Retired Unit List

Didn't there used to be a rather informative retired roster for this page? Any idea why it was pulled? - MVTArider May 22nd, 2012

RE: Retired Unit list

The list was pulled because there is no need to list buses that are no longer running under a certain operator.

The retired buses will be seen under - Category:Rochester-Genesee Regional Transportation Authority bus fleet. Kaufmancab51, 2012/11/24
