The Van Hool T800 Series is a European touring coach that was later adapted for the North American market. The T800 was succeeded by the T900. They both appear outwardly similar, but the T900 features independent front and tag suspension as well as disc brakes.

Van Hool first exported their T8 range from Europe to the United States in 1984. They signed a distribution agreement with ABC Companies in 1987, and in 1989, had delivered their 200th coach to the United States. Early imports used the European nomenclature such as T815 Acron or T815 Alicron and were 12 metres (40 feet) long with differing floor heights. Through their partnership with ABC Companies, Van Hool further enhanced their coach for the North American market. The T815 eventually became the T840 (40 represented the 40 foot length). A lengthened version of the coach, known as the T845 (45 foot length) was later introduced. The earliest T800 models used the Cummins L10 engine while later versions used the Cummins M11 engine.
