Route 148 was a bus route operated by OC Transpo in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
Route Details
Route 148 was a regukar route that ran between Hurdman station and Elmvale Shopping Mall via the southeast transitway and Kilborn Avenue. The route began from or terminated at Billings Bridge station on weekends and holidays.
History
August 31st, 1997
- Will be scheduled to provide evenly timed service through the community.
August 29th, 1999
- Route is combined with Route 48 to become revised Route 148.
- During peak periods the route will be extended to and from downtown.
- Service between downtown and Hull is replaced by Routes 8, 27, 40 and new peak period Route 180.
- Route is revised to travel via Halifax instead of Saunderson in addition to terminating at Elmvale directly instead of looping around Elmvale via St. Laurent and Russell to simplify the route.
- Service around Elmvale will be replaced by new Route 141 with service on Saunderson is replaced by nearby Route 149.
June 22nd, 2003
- The first and/or last trips have been cancelled due to low ridership.
September 4th, 2004
- Afternoon peak period trips will no longer serve downtown but will start at Hurdman Station instead of LeBreton. Morning peak trips will continue to serve downtown. This is to reduce congestion on Slater street, not due to major budget cuts in the city’s operating budget.
- Weekday trips that start and end at Billings Bridge Station will be extended to Hurdman for improved connections.
June 25th, 2006
- Morning peak periods trips will end at Hurdman instead of LeBreton. Customers going downtown will be required to transfer at Hurdman Station where a high frequency of service is available.
September 2nd, 2012
- To meet the growing demand for service, additional trips that are over and above the normal seasonal increases will be added.
- Weekend trips will end at Billings Bridge Station.
June 25, 2017
- Route is renumbered to local Route 48 in preparations for the launch of the O-Train Confederation Line in 2018.
- New routing and stop locations at Hurdman Station.
