The Société de transport de l'Outaouais (STO) serves the city of Gatineau and provides peak-hour service to Chelsea and Cantley in the province of Quebec. Both cities are located just east of Canada's capital city Ottawa.

Almost all of the STO's bus routes travel into downtown Ottawa where one of the STO's major terminals is located. Connections with OC Transpo buses can be made on Rideau & Wellington Streets, as well as Tunney's Pasture during peak-hours.

History

Transit service in the Outaouais region was previously provided by the Commission de transport de la communauté regionale de l'Outaouais (CTCRO), created on May 1, 1972. The CTCRO became the Société de transport de l'Outaouais on January 1, 1991.

STO launched its Rapibus BRT in 2013, adding a backbone of high-level service network.

System Map

Rapibus:
These are the main routes providing service on the Rapibus roadway.
100 is a weekday peak period only route that runs to downtown Gatineau (Hull) in the AM and to Lorrain Station in the PM.
200 is a weekday peak period only route that runs to downtown Ottawa in the AM and to Lorrain Station in the PM, bypassing downtown Gatineau (Hull) in both peak periods.
400 is the main route that runs from downtown Ottawa to Lorrain Station 7 days a week, outside of peak periods.
800 is the secondary route that runs from Parc-O-Bus Allumettières to Lorrain Station 7 days a week.
Regular:
These routes run 7 days a week and provide local service. All routes will connect to a Rapibus station to make transfers easier.
Peak:
These routes run during weekday peak periods only, and connect downtown Ottawa and Gatineau (Hull) to suburban Gatineau and the communities of Angers, Masson, and Buckingham.
School:
These routes run during the school year only, running towards the school in the AM and to the community in the PM. They do not operate on holidays, days off, or breaks.
