Sault Ste. Marie Transit 141-153
Sault Ste. Marie Transit 141-153 were Orion 06.501 buses. They were delivered new to Ottawa-Carleton Regional Transit Commission in 1999, and retired from service in 2011-2012. Sault Ste. Marie Transit purchased them, entering into service in mid-2013 to replace older vehicles at the end of their service life.
Originally, city council approved $80,000 to refurbish one of their aging Orion VI buses. When they learned Ottawa was disposing of their Orion VI fleet (many of which had already been refurbished), they acquired 13 buses for the same cost. Sault Ste. Marie Transit pressed these buses into service with only minor modifications. It was decided not to repaint the buses other than adding system logos and a blue stripe, partially after local residents liked the patriotic theme to the buses.
Along with 140, which entered service at the same time, these buses retired 105-109, 110, 112, 114, 115, 117, 118, and 124-127.
