Route description

Route 2 connects the James Bay, Downtown Victoria, and Oak Bay community. In the west end, buses loop around James Bay, serving Fisherman's Wharf and the Cruise Ship terminal. Buses then head north through Downtown Victoria, then east to Oak Bay Junction then east and south, looping to the South Oak Terminus at Central Ave and St Patrick St. Some trips operate service between Downtown Victoria and James Bay only, terminating at Douglas St and Johnson St.

One westbound trip on weekday afternoons begins at Oak Bay Junction.

Route 2 and Route 5 schedules combined provide relatively frequent service between James Bay/Fisherman's Wharf, Downtown, and Oak Bay Village shopping district.

History

  • January 2, 2018: Eastern terminus extended from Downtown to James Bay as part of service reorganization. The 2A designation for trips travelling to/from Willows discontinued [1]
  • January 3, 2022: Route split; buses operating to Willow terminus renumbered as new route 5 James Bay / Willows [2]
  • September 4, 2023: Short-turn trips between James Bay and Downtown added to official schedule, rather than operating as unscheduled overload trips
