Quesnel Transit System

Quesnel Transit System is the transit system for the City of Quesnel and the surrounding communities of Nazko and Wells. Local funding and governance is provided by the City of Quesnel and the Cariboo Regional District. Provincial funding, planning admi,nistration support, and vehicle fleet are provided by BC Transit. Operations were for many years contracted to Five Five Transportation. Currently the system contract is operated by Passenger Contracted Transportation Services Ltd.

History

  • 1982--System begins operation as Quesnel Paratransit system, offering fixed route and door to door accessible services. Original system contractor was Quesnel & District Community Aid Society.
  • 1989--System operating 3 buses according to BC Transit publication[1].
  • 1997--Contractor is Panda Transportation Ltd.
  • Early-mid 2000s--System rebranded as Quesnel Transit System; Door to Door accessible service begins to use the HandyDART branding previously reserved for dedicated Custom systems. Contracted system operator is Five Five Transport Ltd.
  • December 2024--Riders Guide lists contractor as Passenger Contracted Transportation Services Ltd.
