Kawasaki Heavy Industries
Kawasaki Heavy Industries is a multinational industrial, energy, automotive, aerospace, and rail company headquartered in Japan. It was founded in 1878 by Shozo Kawasaki as Kawasaki Tsukiji Shipyard in Tokyo and was later incorporated as Kawasaki Dockyard Co., Ltd. Kawasaki's rail division was established as Hyogo Works in 1906. The following year, they completed three wooden electric multiple units. At the start of the 1980s, Kawasaki delivered their first rail vehicles to the United States. The American subsidiary Kawasaki Rail Car was established in 1985, and a plant was open in Yonkers, New York the following year.[1] Kawasaki saw increased demand for their products, and in 2001, established Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing Corp, U.S.A. in Lincoln, Nebraska. The facility is capable of manufacturing and testing rolling stock.[2]
