Route 106 is a bus route operated by OC Transpo in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
Route Details
Route 106 was a regular route that ran from Hurdman station and ended at St. Laurent. Early morning trips operated from LeBreton to the Hospital Complex only (indicated with a L on schedules).
History
August 31st, 2008
- New Route that will replace a portion of Route 85 from Hurdman to Elmvale.
- Route will follow the same routing as the 85 along Smyth Road via the hospital complex.
- Route will operate the same hours as Route 85 and at a similar or greater frequency.
- On weekdays in the morning peak period, trips from Hurdman to the hospitals will operate every 7 or 8 minutes, and at the same frequency in the afternoon peak period from the hospitals to Hurdman.
- The frequency between the hospitals and Elmvale will vary from 15 to 30 minutes.
September 4th, 2011
- Will be shortened to serve the hospital complex ring road during peak periods only.
- At other times, buses will operate along the main hospital roadway in front of the General Hospital. This will speed up service for many customers but will require a longer walk for others.
January 8th, 2012
- Route was revised to travel the outer ring road of The Ottawa Hospital, serving the General Campus, CHEO, and the Rehabilitation Centre, Monday to Friday between 7 AM and 7 PM.
- On weekdays in the early morning and later evening, and on weekends, Route 106 will operate on the roadway in front of the General Campus and CHEO.
December 28th, 2012
- Route will be extended to and from downtown in the early morning on an hourly basis. These changes will provide 24/7 service and improved connections to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and The Ottawa Hospital, General Campus on Smyth Road.
September 1st, 2013
- Schedules adjusted to improve reliability.
- Route is extended to downtown in the early morning.
December 20th, 2015
- Extended from Elmvale Terminal to St-Laurent Station, for easier transfers to east-end routes
- Does not serve Lees Station westbound.
- Eastbound trips between 7 PM and 6 AM and on weekends serve the upper level of Lees Station.
- Uses Highway 417 and the Vanier Parkway between Campus and Hurdman Stations.
April 24th, 2016
- Route serves Besserer in both directions during the early morning.
April 23rd, 2017
- Schedules adjusted based on observed run times to improve reliability.
June 25th, 2017
- New routing and stop locations at Hurdman Station.
December 24th, 2017
- Peak-period extra trips between Hurdman and the Ottawa Hospital General Campus will be renumbered as new Route 45.
September 2nd, 2018
- Will be shortened to travel from St-Laurent and Elmvale via Smyth to Riverside Station.
- Service on the hospital Ring Road and to Hurdman Station, including overnight trips from LeBreton Station, will be replaced by Route 45.
April 21st, 2019
- Route is revised to serve CHEO on all trips for better connections to Hospital Link.
October 6th, 2019
- Route is combined with Routes 101 and 103 to become new local Route 55, which will operate via Smyth Road.
- Service on St. Laurent will continue to be served by Route 40.
