62 Newmarket 'B' was a route operated by GO Transit that served between Newmarket GO Terminal and York Mills GO Terminal in Ontario. This was a peak period directional service, with service to York Mills GO Terminal in the morning and service to Newmarket GO Terminal in the afternoon. It was part of the North series of GO Transit routes.

History

GO Transit 2270 serving GO Transit Finch Terminal on route 62 northbound during the PM rush.
Signage for route 62 at Newmarket GO Bus Terminal. Installed in May 2008, it stated the route number and 'Yonge St.' designation.

Route 62 linked the upper GTA towns of Newmarket and Aurora to the City of Toronto via Finch and York Mills Stations. Service previously occurred daily from Newmarket GO Terminal to Finch GO Terminal while serving York Mills GO Terminal as well during peak periods, with common use by suburban buses. From September 2004 to November 2005, an express branch of route 62 was implemented, numbered route 63.

When Viva service was implemented by York Region Transit in 2005 along with route 98, GO Transit service along Yonge was less of a priority. A number of GO buses were sold to YRT and route 62 was converted to peak period directional service only.

When the signage was changed for numerous routes in early 2008, rather than stating 'LOCAL/NEWMARKET 'B'', the route number is shown with the target destination (Either York Mills Terminal or Newmarket Terminal) with various destinations on the way.

This route was originally supposed to be cancelled on April 5, 2010 to transfer riders to York Region Transit and Viva's Yonge Street services. For transitional purposes, this cancellation had been pushed back to June 30, 2010. In accordance with this, the number of trips on this route was decreased to 5 southbound in the morning and 5 northbound at night. It has since been replaced by Viva Blue A.
