Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority route 17 Central Terminal

Route 17 Central Terminal is a previous bus service of the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority.

Creation of the service dated back to the days of the International Bus Company, as one of the first four bus routes, desginated as route "D". Later, when the IBC was merged with the International Railway Company, it was designated route 17.

The Niagara Frontier Transit System continued the service upon acquisition of the IRC, including 24-hour service into the terminal from the Downtown business district and hotels. When railway service began dropping out of the New York Central Terminal, hours were curtailed on the line.

When the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority took over services from the NFTS, service dropped to the point when the Central Terminal closed, that service was discontinued as route 17, but infrequent service was retained and designated as a branch of route 4 Broadway, with the letter "C" variation. Note: As of June 1977, service continued operation as route 17 only during rush periods with one bus (from Cold Springs terminal) making continuous round trips from approximately 6:00-9:00am, then again from 3:00-6:00pm.
