Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation 22349-22415

Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation 22349-22415 were 2002 40' Gillig Low Floor buses. These buses were among a large amount of Gillig Low Floors that were ordered by SMART in the early 2000's to replace it's older high-floor buses. This single order, which was made in 2000, made the Gillig Low Floor the most recognizable SMART bus, displacing the RTS. Originally was powered by Detroit Diesel Series 40E engines, today most buses of this fleet contain Cummins ISL engines.

These buses were initially done in by several recent Gillig BRT orders and were completely retired by September 2017, though on December 2017 a select few were reactivated due to fleet shortages brought on by reassignments of some of these BRTs to the new Fast service. After the delivery of 3801-3840, they were permanently retired in February 2019.
