Durham Region Transit 8016-8017
Durham Region Transit 8016-8017 were Orion 05.501 buses built in 1992 and inherited by DRT in 2006. They were originally delivered new to Ajax Transit as 917-918 and went to Ajax Pickering Transit Authority as 2016-2017.
The buses were originally delivered to Ajax Transit with tape strips to request stops. These have since been replaced with cords. The rear doors are driver operated and the driver's area is equipped with a draft doors.
These buses were refurbished in 2004. They lost their two-tone blue Ajax Transit livery and returned all white. The APTA livery and logos were soon applied. They received a variation of the DRT livery shortly after the creation of the system.
These buses could be found on a variety of routes in Ajax and Pickering during rush hour. Later in their careers, they were relegated to high school specials.
