Barrie Transit provides public transit service to the City of Barrie, Ontario.
Recent history
As of July 1, 2015, MVT Canadian Bus held the 20-year contract to operate and maintain Barrie Transit. Prior to that, First Transit held the contract and operated out of their own facility. MVT Canada now operates out of a city-owned facility that was formerly a factory.
Fares
Transfers can be requested from the Transit Operator when boarding the bus & can only be used by the person to whom it was issued. A Barrie Transit transfer allows you 75 minutes free travel, in any direction, on any route. You can even make short trips on only one fare as long as you are back on the return bus before the time on your transfer expires. If you’re unsure of the expiry time, please ask your Transit Operator.

Fleet Number Notes: The initial 3-digit fleet numbers were changed to 5-digit fleet numbers as such:
By 1980, a new 5-digit fleet number was adopted for year (first two numbers), the digit 6 (third number, probably for bus), and bus number (last two numbers):
e.g. 80623 = built 1980 (80), bus (6), bus number 23
Some units had been renumbered using a different sequence:
e.g. 50028 = bus number 002, built 1958 (5+8)
Sometime after 1991, the 5-digit fleet number was reversed:
e.g. 64798 = bus (6), bus number 47, built 1998 (98)
Starting in 2011, a more conventional 4-digit fleet number was adapted:
e.g. 1404 = built 2014 (14), bus 4 (04) of the order.
