York Region Transit 1501-1518
York Region Transit 1501-1518 are Nova Bus LFS buses built and delivered in 2015 and 2016. They were purchased through the Metrolinx Transit Procurement Initiative.
These are the first conventional (as well as 40-foot) buses purchased from Nova Bus by YRT. Previous purchases were of articulated buses for Viva service. The initial order was for 16 buses, however York Region took the option to add two additional buses to the order for service improvements.
Unlike all conventional bus orders since 2002, the 2015 LFS have a rear window, additional stop request button instead of tapes and sensor-activated rear door. In addition, the side logo was modified and the fleet numbers are in a different typeface.
All buses initially delivered into Transdev, with 1501-1509 being assigned to Miller prior to entering service. 1501-1509 were transferred to BRT Division between 2018 and 2019 to operate route 90 Leslie; 1505-1509 were reassigned back to Southeast routes in 2024. 1510-1514 were transferred to Southeast in May-June 2024. 1501-1514 were transferred to West in September 2024.
These buses are normally found on routes 3 Thornhill, 4 Major Mackenzie, 5 Clark, 7 Martin Grove, 10 Woodbridge, 12 Pine Valley, 13 Islington, 20 Jane, 21 Vellore, 23 Thornhill Woods, 26 Maple, 77 Highway 7, 80 Elgin Mills, 83/83A Trench, 85 Rutherford, 86 Newkirk-Red Maple, 87 Autumn Hill, 88 Bathurst, 105 Dufferin, 107 Keele, 165 Weston, 360 Vaughan Mills/Wonderland, 361 Nashville Express, and school specials.
Upon entering service, these buses retired 225-233 and 301-302, 307 and 310, however 307 would later be brought back into service.
