The route serves the Malton neighborhood of Mississauga, providing a connection to the TTC subway system at Kipling Bus Terminal. The route primarily serves Goreway Drive, Rexdale Boulevard and Highway 27.

Timeline
- September 6, 2005 - Route renamed 11 'Westwood' from 11 'Malton'. Route 11A 'Westwood-Dundas' is introduced, as a renaming of route 40.
- September 2, 2008 - All route 11, 11A, and 11B trips are revised to use Highway 27 at all times. Route 11A is renamed 11A 'Westwood-Darcel' and is revised to provide all day service along Rexwood Road, Netherbrae Road, Darcel Avenue, and Morning Star Drive to and from Westwood Square Bus Terminal. Service to the Nashua Drive area is replaced by new route 11B 'Westwood-Nashua', which is introduced as a weekday rush hour branch deviating to the Nashua Drive area.
- January 25, 2010 - Route designated as a fully accessible route, with low floor buses used at all times.
- June 28, 2010 – Weekday midday service on route 11A is eliminated, with all buses following the route 11 routing between 9:00am and 3:00pm on weekdays.
- May 1, 2017 - Saturday and Sunday frequency is improved to 22 minutes from 36 minutes. One bus added to the route on both Saturday and Sunday.
- July 1, 2019 - Route 11A and 11B are cancelled, with route 11 providing consistent service 7 days a week along Goreway Drive, Rexdale Boulevard, Highway 27 and Dundas Street.
- January 4, 2021 – Route revised to terminate at the new Kipling Bus Terminal, no longer serving Islington Subway Station.
