MiWay 1901-1910
MiWay 1901-1910 are Nova Bus LFS HEV buses built in 2019.
On April 16, 2018, Mississauga City Council approved the purchase of 10 'second generation' hybrid buses with the updated BAE HybriDrive Series-ER system in order to further evaluate hybrid buses. The updated Series-ER system features redesigned components such as a larger capacity battery with a projected 12 year lifecycle and a direct drive traction motor. In addition, all vehicle accessories such as air conditioning are electrically powered which allows the engine to shut off while at bus stops as well as allowing for fully electric operation in short distances. These changes are expected to improve the reliability of hybrid buses and contribute to greater fuel efficiency.
In August 2018, a tender was issued for the supply of 10 40' low floor hybrid buses. Nova Bus was the only one to respond to the tender at a cost of $8,931,830, and they were awarded the contract in December 2018.
Delivery began in August 2019, and the buses began entering service on October 16, 2019.
The interior features 30 passenger seats with Holdsworth Fabrics grey-base Wiggles & Rings moquette. 26 seats are 4ONE Gemini, while 4 seats are moulded American Seating InSight seats. A folding wheelchair ramp is located at the front door of the bus. Rear doors are passenger operated using a wave sensor system. All windows are traditionally glazed and of the tip-in transom design. Heating, ventilation, and cooling are provided by a roof-mounted Mobile Climate Control unit.
