MiWay 1031-1045
MiWay 1031-1045 are Orion 07.501 EPA 2010 hybrid buses built in 2010.
In June 2009, a tender was issued for the supply of 15 40' hybrid buses. New Flyer, Nova Bus, and Orion responded to the tender as follows:
- Orion - $10,762,877
- Nova Bus - $12,415,468
- New Flyer Industries - $12,499,608
With Orion having the lowest bid, they were awarded the contract in September 2009. Delivery began in July 2010, and the buses began entering service on October 4, 2010.
These buses were the first hybrid buses for MiWay, as well as the first buses to feature the updated BAE HybriDrive (HDS 200) system. This was the first order delivered in the new "MiLocal" orange livery with lettering.
The interior features 33 seats with Holdsworth Fabrics grey-base Wiggles & Rings moquette. All seats are 4ONE Mariella, except for the rear five seats which are 4ONE Aries. A folding wheelchair ramp is located at the front door of the bus. Rear doors are passenger operated utilizing Vapor's vTouch system. All Windows are flush mounted and of the tip-in transom design manufactured by Hehr. Heating, ventilation, and cooling are provided by a roof-mounted Thermo King Athenia unit.
Beginning in 2022, all buses in the MiWay fleet had unprotected forward facing seats blocked off or removed. These changes reduced the seating capacity from 33 to 31 seats.
